Collaboration is an art

A custom designed skin on frame canoe for the performance of NIGAMON|TUNAI, instead of floating on water, this one is built to contain it. With sizing specified to work with the production’s custom built water flutes, while also remaining compact enough to pack into a road crate for touring the show, this hull had some unusual geometry that certainly wouldn’t paddle well, but looks incredible on stage.

“In Nigamon/Tunai, artists Émilie Monnet (Anishinaabe-French, Québec) and Waira Nina (Inga, Colombia) weave together sound, story, and ceremony in a powerful performance that bridges Indigenous worlds of the North and South.”
