What we do

Atelier Woodcroft is a collectively owned workshop committed to making objects and spaces that reconnect people to one another in a world that too often fragments us. Our practice draws on experience in fine woodworking, architectural fabrication, furniture, and environmental design, but the real work is refusing the idea that craft must be subordinated to speed, spectacle, or extractive efficiency. We source materials and share knowledge regionally because community is not a slogan for us—it’s the material condition that makes meaningful work possible.

Every project begins with thoughtful specifications and ends with something built to endure, not just circulate. We want to keep learning, keep teaching, and keep building things that resist disposability and invite genuine engagement. Step into our neighbourhood and help us imagine what a more grounded, collective future could look like—one piece of work at a time.

Who we are

Tim Richards is an industrial designer and woodworker who has worked in varied roles revolving around furniture and architectural design since 2009. In 2012 he co-founded South Street Boatbuilders. He has done work for clients worldwide, including the Canadian Olympic Committee, James Beard Foundation, Conrad Hotels, Ritz Carlton and Hyatt Hotels. His work has appeared in Azure, the National Post, Globe and Mail, Canadian Business, Paddling.net and PIN-UP magazine. He is building Atelier Woodcroft to dig for even deeper roots and explore what makes a place home, and how craft can build community.
